Free Day

Today was our only free day. We slept late and Sloan slept twelve hours.  We went for a walk after breakfast just to get outside. We came back to the hotel and just played with Sloan. She loves her stacking cups, musical purse and loves to put on the little bead bracelet that came with her purse. She also lights up at new shoes!  Sloan likes to stand up against our wall size hotel window overlooking the city and look down at the traffic below. She loves to give Kale high fives and look at the fish pond with Wren in the hotel lobby.  Kale and Wren have not only busied themselves in the hotel by playing with Sloan, but they have also invented a type of neck pillow baseball.  One pitches a soft ball to the other one, and then the batter hits the ball with a neck pillow. Once hit, they run to designated bases and the fielder can throw the ball to get them out. 

Sloan enjoys watching them!  We noticed that Sloan held a pen very well and she liked to draw, so after lunch, we went for a walk down to the mall to buy Sloan some crayons. We bought oil pastels (not called crayons here) at a store called KidsWant and we also bought some diapers.  We had a funny conversation about a certain size and type of diaper with a young Chinese clerk who knew some English We have relied on a lot on actions to help the language barrier. While at the mall, we found a store much like Walmart kind of buried on the lower level. After the mall trip, we let Sloan try out her crayons. She drew a little bit and then enjoyed placing each crayon in its correct spot in the tray with focused concentration. It was cute to watch her little face while she did this.  

We had a good relaxing day and are really enjoying Sloan. She is full of personality and smiles!  We just love watching her and how she reacts to different things around her.
